Headstart Intervention Services is a vibrant and energetic new practice specialising in psychological services for children, adolescents and young adults. The psychologists provide services relating to school difficulties, anxiety and depression, as well as eating, sleeping and conduct disturbances. We currently have six Psychologists working in the practice, all of whom bring their own areas of expertise.

Our primary areas of expertise lie in the area of autism and related disorders; both detection and intervention. We offer parents with effective management strategies. Considerable time is dedicated to developing home based intervention packages based on applied behavioural techniques. These programs are initially developed and implemented by the psychologists at Headstart but soon they become home-based with continuing support offered by Headstart. Hands on therapy sessions can also be arranged either at Headstart or in the client’s home. Clients may also wish to engage in one of Headstart’s social skills training groups directed at children, adolescents and parents.

Consultations with victims of crime and other legal matters are also an area of expertise.
