Headstart Intervention Services can develop and introduce a tailored intensive Early Intervention Program to meet the learning needs of children experiencing developmental delays, such as experienced with Autism and Asperger’s.

Headstart will provide a program and train parents so that the program can be implemented in the home.  Parents requiring assistance with the implementation of a program may receive further support through Headstart.

The Headstart program has two levels:

Beginners Program

Advanced Program

The starting level of a child is dependent on age and ability, however the majority of children will begin with the Beginners Program and progress to the next program once developmentally appropriate skills have be mastered.

Packages and Fees

Individual ABA Program (7 week program)-

1. Initial Assessment 1 - 1.5 hours (at HIS) $240
2. 6 visits with parents to establish program train parents and work through drills (at HIS) $600 (ie, $100 per hour – non-psychologist). This can be done as a day-workshop for country clients or if preferred (non-psychologist)
3. Purchase of Training drills and manual - $240
4. 2 Hours of ABA per week for 7 weeks (at HIS) $980 (ie, $70 per hour)
5. 3 Hours of ABA per week for 7 weeks delivered in the home $1470 (ie, $70 per hour)
   (Note: Services can be packaged

Psychology consults as required $196 per hour.

Therapy sessions $70 per hour (Minimum 2 hours in home).

Groups $25 per hour (Minimum of 3 per group)

A Medicare rebate with a psychologist or trainee psychologist may be applicable with an appropriate referral. Items 1 and 2 may be conducted under this scheme instead of using FaHCSIA funding at a cost of $130 per hour with a psychologist.
