Parent Support

Headstart provides assistance for parents who are concerned with their child’s behavioural, social or emotional adjustment and development. Clinicians can provide practical information, advice and support for parents of children of all ages and across a wide range of concerns and needs.

Parenting support may include building positive parenting skills, such as using effective commands, setting boundaries, responding to behaviours of concern, reinforcement of desired behaviours, establishing routines and shaping parent-child interactions, relationships and play. Clinicians can also provide support for parents to enhance their own coping strategies, stress management and confidence.
